Question Does Fixsr.com print and mail my picture?

Answer No by default. Yes with special arrangement. We restore and touch photos digitally. However, for your convinience, we contract third party vendors for your printing needs. Special arrangement has be made and extra fees have to be paid first. Currently, we charge $12 or a 8x10 and $18 for a 11x14, from Shutterfly.com

Answer Yes. While we are mainly serving customers in United States and Canada now, we welcome and appreciate your business even if you are from somewhere else. However, first you need to purchase one of our flexible prepaid packages and can not enjoy the 'free to try no oblgiation' policy. After we have established a mutual trust, you will be granted full access to our services.

Answer Yes, we do. If you are an established customer with us, it would be business as usual. Otherwise you would need to confirm with us that you are serious about the request and a prepaid plan might be needed.

Question Why am I asked to buy a Store Credit first? Is it refundable?

Answer If you have no paying record with us, we may ask you to buy a $5 or $15 Store Credit before we can work on your request. This is to make sure you are serious and would likely pay if you are really happy when you see the results. This credit is 100% refundable, and we will not hassle you about it.

Answer If you pictures are not paid during the first two weeks after they are ready and you are notified, our system is moving them to archive storages. To reactive them for you, there will be additional cost.

Question I do not have a scanner, what can I do?

Answer Two options:

  • Go to a FedEx Kinko's, local photo store or office store and have it scanned for a small fee, then upload to us.
  • Go to a local photo store ask for the service you want, if they are charging you an arm and a leg, let them know there is fixsr.com providing high quality services without murdering people.

Question Can I send the physical copy of the picture needed to be retouched or restored to you?

Answer Yes. We don't charge for scanning, but you need to pay $10 extra for sending the package back to you through USPS ensured priority mail.

Question I have a photo stuck to the glass caused by water damage, can you fix it without removing it from the glass?

Answer Yes. Mail it in. Or you could scan it and we will fix the reflection from the glass.

Question I have a picture larger than the scanner bed, what can I do?

Answer You could scan it into multiple photos, usually 2 or 4, submit all them to us, we will merge them properly before retouching/restoring.

Question How do I scan for the best results?

Answer Consumer scanners can never match up to commercial ones, but 95% of scanning jobs can be done perfeclty with an everyday scanner. Make sure the setup is at least 300 PPI, best at 600 PPI. Contact us for more directions.

Answer Yes. Please refer to our privacy policy. Your pictures will never be used by anybody else for any purpose, unless you explicitly authorize us to use them for our promotional purpose.

Answer It is the only way we can notify you about the status of your photo editing requests. We do not share your email address with anybody else.

Answer It means we have started working on your photo. No, you do not need to do anything else unless you have extra instruction to give. In case that we need clarification, our customer service will contact you. Once your photo is ready, the status changes to "Ready for your review" and an email will be sent to your registered email address.

Answer "Accepted" means you have chosen the photos you like but have not paid yet. Only in "Paid" status you will be able to download the full-size, watermark-free photos.

Question Do you crop my photo?

Answer Usually not. Unless you specify you intend to use it to print a particular size, e.g. 8x10. Cropping is free, but if you don't want to lose any of picture but still want to print a specific size, some simple reconstruction will be charged at $5 each.

Question Do you handle extreme reconstruction?

Answer Yes. Generally, we categorize most of the 'severe' or 'extreme' cases from other websites into 'medium' to 'severe'. Our 'extreme' definition is that when there is really not much digital data to work with. E.g. old photo washed out, low resolution scan from newspaper 100 years ago.

Currently this kind of cases is handled through our partners. Two options:

  • Artist hand-draw (less in skin details, more artistic) - $90 prepaid, about 3 days, no rework, no refund;
  • Computerized feature match, something like you would see in police movies or TV. (more skin detail, a little bit plastic look) - $60 prepaid, about 5 days, rework based on your feedback until you are satisfied, $30 is refundable if no satisfactory result can be reached.
